Rinoa - Rinoa
As an introduction to the Essex, UK based band Rinoa, we from Metalrage.com received their self-titled debut four-track MCD. With this release, Eyesofsound introduces us to a band which mixes post-hardcore and metal into a heavy, yet melodic, catching sound. According to the promotion sheet we received with the album, this is music for fans of bands like for example Envy. And that’s exactly where the problem lies with Rinoa’s release.
Rinoa succeeds in creating some nice climaxes and the emotional-sounding vocals also work out really well, but they can’t distinguish themselves from other (bigger) bands in the genre. They did their best and created some fine music, but if they want to get bigger they have to put something extra in their music. If this post-hardcore genre wouldn’t have been overcrowded, they probably would have impressed a lot more people, but for now this is just a “same shit, different band”-release.
